Newsletter No. 140 17th February 2017
Six weeks of school thus far… We are indeed grateful to God for bringing us to this point. We appreciate all parents who attended the Open Day session and the PTA meeting. We encourage all parents and guardians to continue to take keen interest in the academic and all-round welfare of their children/wards.
Presently, our focus is on our Grade 12 students as exams draw nearer with SSCE in a couple of months. Grade 9 students are also on a tight schedule with no spare time as they prepare for the coming NECO JSS examination. Mock exams have been coordinated for both Grade 9 & 12 students and more are scheduled to follow.
Grades 9 & 12 students are encouraged to move into the hostel where they can be closely guided in their exam preparations. Hostel fee is N20,000.00 per week.
Public Speaking Competition
Our annual Public Speaking Competition held on Wednesday, 15 February 2017 with the theme “The role of integrity in national development”. In the keenly contested competition, St. Catherine's Nursery and Primary School came first, while St. Isabel Private School clinched 2nd and 3rd positions. In attendance at the contest also were American Christian Academy, the Olives International School, All Saints' Church School and Little Professors School. The program which was coordinated by Mr. Olayinka, Miss Amuta and Mrs Onayemi aims to promote good spoken English among early learners.
Our Junior School pupils also participated in this year's edition. Doing justice to the topic was an exciting experience for our pupils as they competed with the other schools. We however did not give ourselves a position in order play fair since we are the host.
Senior School students did us proud at a debate competition at Kambridge Comprehensive College also on Wednesday, 15th February 2017 where they supported the motion that “Television is not a bad influence on today's teens”.
